Garrett Talamantes

“Hello,

My Name is Garrett and I’m from Carrizo Springs, Texas,  currently studying at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.  I am a member and Vice President of the Texas A&M Aggie Rodeo Team (Team Roping and Calf Roping) and a vocalist/guitar player for the Texas A&M Anillos De Oro Mariachi. 

In high school I served as the 2X President of the Texas High School Rodeo Association (THSRA), Vice President of the THSRA, President of THSRA Region VIII, President of the Texas Junior High Rodeo Association (TJHRA) and two time President of TJHRA Region 8.  I was the President of my High School Senior Class, a Student Council Representative, and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Aside from my personal success in the arena, I am also an aspiring singer, songwriter and performer.  My live acoustic set list varies from 70’s to current County, along with some Rock, Pop, Cowboy Ballads and a few popular Spanish hits.  I have the good fortune to say I am a regular in such musical landmarks as Gruene and Luckenbach, Texas, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to watch and learn from the many talented artist that can be found in and around the area.  I have released seven original singles, which includes one self written E.P. 

My G1 Rodeo Show YouTube Channel focuses on the accomplishments of my fellow youth rodeo contestants.  It is my hope to bring value and positive exposure to the sport of youth rodeo and celebrate my peers, both in and out of the arena. 

In addition, I have enjoyed performing the National Anthem at our Regional High School Rodeos and have had the honor of singing at Rodeo Austin (3x), The Texas High School and Jr. High State Finals, PRCA Rodeo in Pleasanton, TX., Roy Cooper, Cody Ohl and Joe Beaver Jr. Calf Roping Championships and numerous other rodeos and civic functions in Southwest Texas.  I was also a Top 30 Finalist in the NFR National Anthem Contest. ​

I graduated as Salutatorian of my high school class, was a Straight A student, and a member of the National Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Carrizo Springs High School Gifted and Talented program, and Wildcat Academic Honor Society.  As a varsity athlete, I was selected Academic All State 1st Team in both football and track.  I was a State Track Meet qualifier, and also an F.F.A. State Talent Competition Finalist.”
